Who Are We – Omaha Auto Repairs

John Stern - omaha auto repair shop ownerJohn Stern – Owner. Westside High School’s auto program in the late 70’s, combined with a knack for building award-winning, OWH-recognized hot rods out of his parent’s garage triggered Sparks owner John Stern’s interest in automotive repair. Several summer stints at Tires Inc® & an overnight job at a custom Omaha Porsche® shop further fueled his passion. In 1980, John’s drive to succeed independently accelerated.

Mike Goodrich

Mike Goodrich – May 26, 1958 – Aug 26, 2015

During high school, John & childhood pal Mike Goodrich, Sparks long-time Master Tech, who passed away in summer 2015, opened up a makeshift repair shop at the Omaha apartment complex where they lived. Out of two rented garages, the duo fixed neighbors’ vehicles in what became a gripping story.

“The garages had no power. So, we actually strung a long extension cable from our 3rd floor apartment. Our operation grew so quickly that we were forced to rent out 5 additional garages,” a fond memory John recalls with a laugh.

Nearly a year later, John took a break. He set aside his small Omaha auto repair shop business & hit the books, graduating from Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado with a BA in economics & business administration, before obtaining an auto mechanics education at Metro Tech & advanced ASE certifications – to boot.
